Sept: Monarch Tagging, insects & migration, why do we tag monarchs?

Oct: Pioneer and Native Games (hike out to Pioneer cemetery and do grave rubbings?)

Nov: Fibonacci Study – observe items from nature that use the Fibonacci sequence, Fibonacci art –> circles of diff sizes, prints of spiral things, mandala coloring…

Dec: Snow – snowflake formation, baking soda “snow”?, ice experiments…

Jan: Phenology – study of timing of events in nature, e.g. when migratory birds come back each year

Feb: Snowshoeing (weather permitting), otherwise winter animals/hibernation with Valentine’s craft

Mar: Nature Journaling – decorate journals, show how to set up, give ideas for entries, kids can use at home

Apr: Water Quality – physical, chemical, and biological tests; pH activity; test Little Sioux
